Description: Otsu City, Japan - Meiji Era Albumen Photograph Good day, This listing is part of a large selection of personal items from the estate of California State Senator George R. Lukens. (Alameda County; Sessions Served: 34th; 1901 ? 37th; 1907.) Senator Lukens and his Wife acquired each item during their travels to Japan and each piece has remained nearly untouched for over a century now. The entire collection is from the Meiji Period, dating from 1906 and earlier, unless stated otherwise. Please peruse the other listings and check back as I will be offering many more items. I have now included a photograph that we uncovered in this collection of Senator George R. Lukens - enjoying himself at a dinner party with Geisha women and friends. This photograph is from a very large collection of Meiji era photographs belonging to Senator Lukens and his Wife. There are many hand colored and hand tinted photographs and specimens that may be from out of the region of Japan. Most every photo is approximately 8"-8.5" x 10"-11". These are not small photos but of medium size and are great for framing. Please keep that in mind when considering the price as many on the market may be as small as 3" x 5". These are all from the original period and thus are delicate albumen prints. Please inspect each photo carefully as I have scanned the front and back of every photo in order to represent the specimen as best as I can. Most are in very good to excellent condition, while some may have sustained some slight damage. Overall, this is an absolutely beautiful and immense collection of photographs from a bygone era that should be well remembered. The additional (3) collage photos are previews of other photos I am listing and are not included in this auction. The (2) dinner party photos with Senator Lukens are not included in this auction. The photo with many various items is a small preview of many other items I am listing from this collection and only the listed item in this auction is included.
