The Type III stamped insignia was introduced in order to conserve brass for the manufacture of small arms and artillery shells. The insignia is in VERY GOOD condition and will polish to a bright brass glow. The disk has the mid-War "clutch back" style fasteners. Here's an opportunity for the Medic/Medical Dept. collector or re-enactor to obtain insignia for the collection or his impression.
