John Ford, born John Martin “Jack” Feeney (1894 - 1973) was a film director renowned for both Westerns such as Stagecoach (1939), The Searchers (1956), and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962), as well as adaptations of such classic American novels as John Steinbeck’s The Grapes of Wrath (1940) with Henry Fonda, and Richard Llewellyn’s How Green Was My Valley - both of which he won Oscars for Best Director. He also won 2 more Best Director Oscars for The Quiet Man (1952) with John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara and The Informer (1935). He was nominated for Best Picture for The Quiet Man and Best Director for Stagecoach. The Western Costume Company began in 1912 and is still going strong as one of the oldest and largest costume rental companies in the world.
