Description: For your consideration, an original vintage circa 1937 watercolor by the artist and writer Emeline H. Malpas. The work depicts a cathedral in Florence Italy, painted during a world painting and art tour she took in 1937. The framed watercolor is in excellent vintage condition (please refer to photographs for full description of condition) and measures 9” x 6”, framed 13 ½” x 9 ½” . Signed, with annotations on the verso. The painting displays fine paint handling, a vibrant color palette, and modernist aesthetics. I acquired this, and other works by Malpas directly from the family estate in Mendocino, California (Please refer to other works by Malpas, presently listed on eBay).Emeline Howe Malpas (1914-1998) was a classically trained artist, from a wealthy East Coast family, who wrote “Run Away to War”, 1997, in which she chronicled her WWII experiences in London as a American nurse overseas.
