Description: Red McCarthy AsThe Silver Phantom Circa 1940's This is a original vintage publicity photograph of well known Ice Capades star Red McCarthy in his role as the Silver Phantom sometime in the early 1940's. His outlandish costumes were based on body paint made of silver nitrate and crushed glass that took over an hour to apply, (and just as long to remove). The photograph measures about 8" x 10" and is in very good condition. This publicity photograph is from a large collection of ice show memorabilia (over 700 pieces) that I bought last year that used to belong to New York ice show promoter and agent Harry Hirsch.
