Description: Up for sale today is an Original US Army M1903 Experimental Graniteware Cup. This cup measures 5 inches across, and it is about 2 3/4 inches tall. This is an excellent example of a very scarce experimental cup from 1903. In the early part of the twentieth century, during the process of reviewing the equipment for use with the new M-1903 rifle, the Army experimented with a number of different materials for cups. In 1903 graniteware enameling, popular with civilian kitchen items, was examined and found to be poisonous with acidic foods, so this type of cup never made it into production. This cup does have a some chips in the enameling, but none of them are terrible by any means. There are no holes in this cup, and the handle is still perfectly tight.
