Fort Collins Municipal Railway Birney 21 is at Mountain/Shields, inbound on the re-created Mountain Avenue line, operated by the Fort Collins Municipal Railway Society, on May 5, 2019. Fort Collins Muni was one of the first city-owned streetcar systems in the United States, being established in 1919, and the car is carrying a 100th Anniversary sign on its side. It was an all-Birney operation, and the iconic four-wheel cars operated until 1951--the last Birney operation in the United States. Photoshop Glowing Edges image. (Also see the normal image.) The Mountain Avenue line was one of three routes, and the Society restored original Fort Collins Birney 21, and began operations on spring and summer weekends in 1985.
