Description: The watercolor by Henri Plumb titled “spring floods” features an idyllic landscape with a multi-colored sky. It is signed lower right by the artist. Paper measures approximately 14” x 20” (would look great matted in a 24” x 16” frame). Plumb was an Academy-trained watercolorist from England and taught private lessons in British-style watercolors and the English landscape painting tradition in Colorado Springs. He was a prominent member of the Colorado Springs artists group and president of the Colorado Springs Art Guild. The painting was originally owned by one of Plumb's students. A newspaper article contains a quote by Plumb that appears to reference this painting. “””Plumb described his vision of painting in an interview: "To create the sunlight filtering through the clouds, and the falling rain with a few deft strokes of the brush is not produced after a few lessons but requires many years of study and exploration. "To feel the warmth of the early morning sun creeping gently into the valleys dispersing the overnight mist; to watch the blue smoke rising from a forester's cottage and smell the pine logs burning on an October late after noon: this is part of the painter's in heritance, to be taken into his heart. even into his soul."”””” The watercolor appears to be in excellent condition. Please see photos for detailed condition.
