Description: This is a pair of original GM cylinder heads for a Big Block Chevy Engine. The casting number on each head is 3919840. The date codes are I 5 8 and I 16 8 which decode as September 5th and 16th, 1969. These heads are the high performance versions with rectangular intake ports and closed combustion chambers. The 3919840 head was used by GM on 1968-1969 L78 396/375HP, L72 427/425HP(Yenko/COPO, and L71 427/435HP engines. The 3919840 head was also used as a replacement for casting numbers 3856208, 3873858, 3904391, and 3964291. What a rare find! These heads are in good core condition as shown. They are complete with valves, springs, retainers, guide plates, and rocker studs as shown. These heads have been in storage for decades and will need to be rebuilt before use. The heads have been checked for cracks with one head bolt boss on one head that was found to need attention as shown. All threads are in good shape with no helicoils or thread inserts. The ports look to have no porting or modifications as shown. The deck surfaces are still very thick as shown in the picture with the dimes on the deck indicators. The valves measure 2.19 inches on the intake and 1.72 on the exhaust. This is simply an awesome pair of original 3919840 heads. Finding a true date matched pair of unported heads is a very difficult task. These heads have been in cool dry storage for decades and are being sold are cores for rebuilding.
