Description: Original Feb 1937 Baseball Magazine Bob Feller Rookie Cover Pin-UP GCG CVRThe photographs that appeared in the interior covers of baseball magazines provide collectors a more cost effective way to collect high quality vintage images of Hall of Fame players. Starting in 1925 and continuing through 1951 Baseball Magazine included standard full sized (approximately 8x11) pin up images in many of the front and back covers. They introduced the concept in style in December of 1925 when they included inside the front cover the same color J.F. Kernan image of Christy Mathewson they included as a Premium in their January of 1915 issue. (Note Image of Christy Mathewson Color pin up is NOT included with this listing). This was complimented by a Conlon image of pitching great Walter Johnson inside the back cover. While these images are slightly smaller than the posters promoted and sold by Baseball Magazine they are collectibles in their own right. Consider the following: Since they are part of the cover the paper quality is of the same weight/quality as that of the actual posters. In addition given they are included with a dated publication as opposed to the undated posters collectors know precisely when they are produced. For example the Ruth and Gehrig images appearing in August and December of 1928 respectively; the posters with the same images could have been produced anytime between 1928 and the 1950’s depending on when they were ordered. See images for assessment of condition. Encapsulation by CGC adds a level of authenticaton and preservation for this collectible. Original magazine included with the pin-up.
