ORIG 1920 Letter Morristown to Unicoi Tennessee Munitions Patent Gun Connections

Description: This listing is for an item from the estate of a lifelong Morristown resident and collector.The letter text isMorristown, Tenn. August 23, 1920 Mr. John White, Unicoi City [sic] Dear Sir:-- I have written you several times in regard to the $6.75 that you promised to pay me long before this, but have never had a reply. Mr. White, I need this money badly and I believe you are an honest man and will pay me, perhaps you have just neglected the matter. So please send me check [sic] at once for the amount of $6.75, and it will be greatly appreciated. Yours truly H. R. Crockett The writer was Henry Rush Crockett, who married in January, 1921, at the age of 49 in Hamblen County, Tennessee. Rush Crockett was a native of Pulaski County, Virginia. He was the son of Major James Montgomery Crockett, of Pulaski County and Hamblen County, Tennessee.James Montgomery Crockett received a patent for a gun cartridge that was funded for munitions testing by the 42nd Congress, second session, in 1872 (see screen capture). A 1916 newspaper article says James Crockett wrote to the inventor of the Gatling gun for help with marketing his patented cartridge (see screen capture). James Crockett died in Hamblen County in 1888, according to genealogy information on-line (see screen capture).
