Description: This beautiful fancy basket is an colorful example of outstanding Maine Native basketry. It is 6.5" in diameter and 2" in height with lid. Made of twine and brown ash with dyed splints in orange and teal. This exceptionally woven basket is in excellent condition considering its age and was found among many in an old Maine estate collection. Appears to be from the early 20th century and was likely made by a member of the Penobscot or Passamaquoddy Nation.
