This particular road is often traveled by convoys carrying fallen Canadian soldiers and their families from the Canadian Forces Base in Trenton to the coroner's office at the Centre for Forensic Sciences in Toronto. Many Canadians line the overpasses to pay their respects to the fallen soldiers and their families when such a convoy occurs. When the coroner's office moved to the new Forensic Services and Coroner's Complex at the Humber River Hospital, the Highway of Heroes designation was extended west to Keele Street in Toronto in 2013, to coincide with the move.
