Description: During this round of bids I lowered the price by $500.00. This is the official 1984 Olympic Team Belt given to me in 1984, the year I won the Olympics. I can sign it anywhere you want. If you want I can include your name on the belt. Just tell me what you want. Included, as always, is my personal certificate of authenticity. 1984 was a year of firsts. First time the same brothers won the same Olympics. In fact, 2 brother pairs won gold that year, Mark and Dave Schultz and Ed and Lou Banach. My brother and I went on to win more NCAA, US Open, World, and Olympic Titles than any brother combination in US history. Here are some of my accomplishments: Made 6 US World and Olympic teams in a row. Undefeated in the US for 4 years. 1984 Olympic Champion. 1985 & 1987 World Champion. 1981, 1982, 1983 NCAA Champion. My junior year I got to the finals against Ed Banach in a match which was significant in many ways. 1) I was the defending NCAA Champion from 1981 at 167 lbs. I moved up a weight to 177 lbs in an attempt to stop the defending 2-time NCAA Champion at 177 lbs Ed Banach from becoming the 1st 4-time NCAA Champion in history. 2) The NCAA ranks this as the most entertaining match in history. 3)The 1982 177 lb weight class was ranked the toughest weight class in the last 50 years. 4) First time in 52 years anyone won 3 NCAA’s and the Olympics, and in 1984 Ed Banach and myself both did it. 5) In the book “The Golden Era of Amateur Wrestling: 1980’s” by Reginald Rowe I was voted by my peers as the “College Wrestler of the Decade” and Banach finished a close 2nd. 6) I won the match against Banach 16-8 and was named NCAA “Outstanding Wrestler”. In 1983 I set the Oklahoma U. record for most wins in a single season without a loss (27-0), and was voted 1983 Oklahoma U. Male Student-Athlete of the Year. 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987 US Open Champion. Winner of The Ultimate Fighting Championships IX under NHB rules (no-holds-barred). Authored an autobiography called “Foxcatcher” that became a New York Times best seller and an Amazon's "Editors Pick". A 5x Oscar nominated major motion picture was made about me called "Foxcatcher" starring Channing Tatum as me and co-starring Steve Carrell and Mark Ruffalo. A 2022 Emmy nominated documentary "Wrestling Demons, Mark Schultz's Ultimate Victory" was produced by UFC President Dana White. “Wrestling Demons” is accurately based on my autobiography and co-stars my wrestler Chael Sonnen, my Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructor Pedro Sauer, my training partner Dave Beneteau who was originally picked to compete in UFC IX but broke his hand training with me so I took his place. My formidable opponent in UFC IX was Gary "Big Daddy" Goodridge, who is now one of my friends.
