Description: This auction is for only one patch. Iowa Highway Patrol patch (Not STATE Patrol) old style worn 1935-73 (cut border) 2 7/8" x 3 5/8" embroidered cloth patch. Very lightly used, excellent condition. (4 available) These patches have a cut border, which was how many really old patches used to be made. The patches, including their borders, were sewn onto the background cloth, then the excess background cloth was then cut away from the patch, being trimmed just outside of the border. Most current patches have a merrowed border, which is added around the outside edge of the patch by a separate, special merrowing machine. A merrowed border hides the cut edge of the cloth background material, as the merrowed border threads go from the front of the patch, around the cut edge, and onto the back of the patch. Whoever wins the auction should ATTACH A NOTE TELLING ME WHICH PATCH YOU WANT WHEN YOU MAKE YOUR PAYMENT. If no preference is stated, I will send the first patch shown to the winner.
