Description: I love a dark painting which is not at all dark in mood. This looks like dusk or pre dawn during a power outage 1930’s to me. Artist reaches out and brings the whole thing into one window / frame for both perspective which calms and reminds ones mind it is not that big or overwhelming, it just is. Wish I knew more than it was part of a varied and impressive collection of predominately American paintings 1930s through 50s. There are a couple places on the work with slight paint loss. Also it is dusty and would likely benefit from a proper cleaning. I have only slightly wiped the frame with a soft dry cloth. Would prefer the next keeper decide how they want it. Please examine photos for detail and I will send or post more if needed. The frame is solid, likely heavy oak and I get the sense the artist may have painted it this particular dark color to enhance the piece. There are tiny very random flecks perhaps paint on the frame. May come off, may not want to try. None that I see on the painting itself. Approximately 17 1/4” wide X 19” high inside frame measure.
