Description: Available for purchase is a charming, signed oil painting of a Venetian canal complete with gondolas and typical palazzi rendered in a whimsical style. The artist is Hubert Valerio an Austrian, born in Vienna in1908, who attended the Industrial School of Art under Professor Hauser. He travelled to Italy and Switzerland and held exhibitions at the "Hagenbund" and many other galleries in Vienna, Linz and Graz. The painting has excellent provenance having been acquired at an auction in 1973 from the prestigious Robert Sills Gallery of Los Angeles/Chicago. The original bill of sale is included as it was in an envelope which has been taped to the back of the painting since its acquisition almost 50 years. The painting, which is in its original frame, measures 13 and 1/4 inches by 15 and 1/2 inches. The painting surface measures 8 inches by 10 inches. It is signed "Valerio'" in the lower right hand corner.
