Description: ARTIST: Niels Walseth is a well-known and productive Danish artist, whose works have been offered at auctions several times. He was a student of Jacob Meyer and was very inspired by Peder Mønsted – a famous Danish artist. He embarked on several study trips in f.ex. Italy, Austria and Switzerland, and it is not uncommon to find alpine scenes in his paintings. Another characteristic is that the paintings often have vivid colors and figures in them. PAINTING: Oil on canvas. The painting is a colorful rendering of a man with a hammer and his cow. Maybe he has been out to repair a fence and on the way back to his farm tends to the cow. As is common with this artist the painting has a feel-good feeling to it. On the front of the frame is a small plaquette. I’ll date it to the 1960’s or early 1970’s. Signed: “Niels Walseth” in the lower right corner. SIZE: With frame: 66,5 cm/26.2" * 56,5 cm/22.2". Without frame: 48,5 cm/19.1" * 38,5 cm/15.2". CONDITION: The painting is in great ready-to-hang condition - no holes, tears or missing paint. The frame has minor scratches.
