Oil painting. Knud Edsberg(1911-2003):”Milk cows” (1963)

Description: ARTIST: Knud Edsberg is a well-listed Danish artist, whose works have been offered at auctions multiple times – including Bruun Rasmussen and Christie’s, and who has been an exhibitor at the famous Charlottenborg. He went on study trips to England, Germany, Sweden and Norway. His favorite scenes include portraits and landscapes, many of which include domestic animals. PAINTING: Oil on canvas. The painting is an idyllic rendering of 3 black-and-white milk cows peacefully enjoying life in the field outside their farm. The black-and-white milk cow is considered the “classic” amongst Danish cows. In the background behind the fence posts is a farm house and in the far distance, one can just make out what appears to be a body of water – possibly a bay. On the back of the frame is a note with further information about the artist. On the front of the frame is a small plaquette with the artist’s name. It is dated to 1963. Signed: ”Edsberg” in the lower left corner. SIZE: With frame: 62,5 cm/24.6" * 52,5 cm/20.7". Without frame: 48,5 cm/19.1" * 38,5 cm/15.2". CONDITION: The painting is in great ready-to-hang condition - no holes, tears or missing paint. The frame has minor scratches and stains.
