Description: Normal 0 21 false false false DA X-NONE X-NONE ARTIST: Christian Aabye Talge is a well-listed Danish artist, whose works have been offered at auctions several times. He was born “Nielsen”, but changed his surname to “Talge” in 1928. In the beginning of his career, he was primarily an illustrator and his drawings were beloved in Danish magazines, books and even on Christmas cards. In the latter part of his career, he turned to oil paintings and almost exclusively did that. He is described as being very modest and someone who lived a simple life, not caring about money, but who enjoyed a philosophical conversation. PAINTING: Oil on canvas. The painting is a warm and appealing rendering of a young Italian girl looking dreamily at the ships in the bay. She's most likely standing in the back of a garden flanked to the left by a vase with blossoming flowers. The colors are vivid and pleasing to the eye. I’d date the painting to the 1960’s. Signed: “Chr Aabye Talge” in the lower right corner. SIZE: With frame: 82 cm/32.3" * 72 cm/28.3". Without frame: 64 cm/25.2" * 54 cm/21.3". CONDITION: The painting is in great ready-to-hang condition - no holes, tears or missing paint. The frame has scratches and stains.
