Made to the exact 1955 state specification that was in use until the 1970s. The Ohio Turnpike, first opened in 1955, was built across northern Ohio as a toll road passing through Cleveland and Toledo on its way between Pennsylvania and Indiana. Nowadays it connects to the Indiana Toll Road and the Pennsylvania Turnpike. An original of these is very rare to find scrapped. Most of the green square signs with the arrow as part of the shield have vanished from the back roads of Ohio many years ago. They've long since been replaced with the modern issue that has a green background with a solid white state map (which is available in my other listings!). So here is your chance to own an excellent display piece, without paying an arm and a leg on the collector's market. The sign is 24 by 24 inches, and weighs 14 lb. 10 oz. This is a high quality, heavy steel replica sign. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality.
