Description: Oelwein, IA 1890s Cabinet Card pretty woman ID'd in ink on reverse as Flora Peet White, by Jacobs Nice shot of the lovely and thoughtful Flora, well-composed and in clear focus. Light soiling to card and image. Card measures about 6.5 x 4.25 inches, and image is about 5.5 x 3.875 inches. Imprinted on lower left corner is a lovely crest with "Jacobs" in the center. On lower right is: "Oelwein, Iowa." Flora Adelaide Peet White, born February 21, 1879, in Manchester, IA, was the daughter of Frederick Peet and Abbie A. Barker Peet. She died in Tujunga, CA on June 11, 1960. I am reasonably certain this is the right Flora Peet. Light handling soil to image. Some edge wear to card. My mother was a photographer who collected antique photos of all types for years. As I am settling her estate, I will be listing these photos as quickly as I am able. There are hundreds of photos to go through, and I am trying to match any information my mother may have left with individual photos. Unfortunately, Mom had dementia at the end of her life and wasn't able to tell me much about her collection. She had done a lot of research into photographers and individual pieces in her collection, and often, but not always, filed her research with the photo(s). I search for more information on the internet and in history books, but it's a slow process and it will take me a long time to complete the sorting and selling process.
