The 0.040” thick phenolic hardwood veneer is very rigid and as true-to-scale as reasonably possible. The 10 laser cut phenolic hardwood veneer pieces will create grain doors for 2 doors or 1 box car. Grain doors would also be found stacked or scattered near grain storage areas or near loading and unloading areas. Primarily, boxcar grain doors were used for transporting grain inside 40 & 50 foot boxcars, but coal and limestone were also loaded for transport. This method was used from the early days of railroading into the late 1980s. The boards would be installed on the inside of the boxcar door. The product was then loaded over boards or through chutes in the sides of the boxcar.
