From 1 July 2016 until 19 September 2016, only Australian stamps were officially valid as postage on Norfolk Island mail. The new $1 and $2 "Birds" stamps (issued the next day) are inscribed "NORFOLK ISLAND AUSTRALIA". With this and subsequent issues, both Norfolk Island Australia and Australian stamps are valid for postage throughout Australia, and at Norfolk Island.
