Description: Nording Aristokrat Grade C, Smooth Freehand Estate Briar Pipe, Danish Estates Nording Aristokrat Grade C, Smooth Freehand Estate Briar Pipe, Danish Estates Nørding was founded by Erik Nørding in the 1960s, and is one of the oldest remaining companies to come out of the Scandinavian pipe-making renaissance that began in the mid-20th century. Now in his 80s, Erik Nørding is one of the most experienced and skilled pipe-makers in the world, and over the decades he has also been a teacher of other Danish masters, such as Poul Ilsted, Svend Axel Celius, Jens Tao Nielsen, Peder Jeppesen, and Søren Erik Andersen. As far as I recall, the Aristokrat series was one made by Erik Nording in the 1990s. The pipes were freehands with, particularly good grain, hand-carved by Erik Nording himself who by that time had amassed a considerable workshop of apprentices for the manufacture of less prestigious pieces. This one is a striking, freehand paneled Dublin, with the kind of workmanship that, today, you only find in Eriks Hand Made series. The condition is great. Theres some darkening at the innermost lip of the rim, but its minor, and not particularly noticeable.
