Description: In a world where so much is designed to be disposable, a fine art collection offers lasting value. ADVICE FOR BUYERS OF FINE ART Art Buyers need to know what they are, or are not, getting when buying art. Original art has been created by the hand of the artist. This includes paintings and original prints, printed from printing plates or silk screens created by the hand of the artist. Digitally printed art, and offset lithographs, are not original art, only reproductions of art and have little value. Original works of art are not normally purchased for decoration, such as to match the carpeting, drapes, etc. Each piece of original art should be viewed as a person and thus stand alone without regard for being a part of the decorating. Each piece of art should be framed to compliment the art and hung on the wall wherever you want to view it. Any style of art may hang next to whatever other piece of art you want. When inviting guests to your home, you don’t provide them with color samples so they match the sofa or other decor. Each of them stands alone as should each piece of fine art you hang on the wall. Many designers and art dealers are recommending art to compliment the decor. This should not be how you select and hang fine art. Each piece should stand alone and be enjoyed accordingly. NOCTURNE IN GRAY & GOLD - TEXT "Nocturne in Gray and Gold" is one of the most rare of all the graphic works by Mihail Chemiakin. This piece is a serigraph in 80 colors from an edition of only 60 on black paper. This print is not framed and has never been framed or mounted. The print is in a flawless state of preservation. The size of the image is 36" X 36" plus full margins and it was published in 1998. Note the picture of Chemiakin receiving the “State Prize of Russia for Arts & Letters” from President Boris Yeltsin. President Yeltsin came to America to present this prize to Chemiakin and not to meet with President Clinton. Other pictures are as follows: Chemiakin painting in1978 Chemiakin with President Gerald Ford President Mickhail Gorbachov Actor Sidney Poitier Casanova Sculpture in St. Marks Square by ChemiakinChemiakin books Volumes I & II plus a few museum catalogues No picture can show the true beauty and quality of this piece of art. The texture shown in the highlighting, exists throughout the print. The edition from which this print was published includes 60 prints on black paper, 40 prints on white paper and 135 prints on canvas plus a small number of proofs. The other pictures show this print as it appears in my home framed. The print offered in this listing is not framed and has never been framed. The opening retail list price for this print was $4,500.00 when first released by the publisher. Chemiakin's serigraphs are truly master works, representative of his best work in the graphic medium. While he has created in excess of 200 editions of lithographs, he has created only nine editions of serigraphs. His lithographs usually have 12 to 18 colors, while his serigraphs have 75 to 100 colors, and four to six times the image size in square inches. Anyone wanting to own works by Mihail Chemiakin will find his serigraphs are by far the most beautiful and valuable in the graphic medium and have very limited availability. Mihail Chemiakin is one of the foremost international artists of our time. A quote from the Robb Report (Jan. 1995) states "so great are his talents that he is one of the few artists working today who sets the standard by which all other contemporary art is measured". He has earned 5 honorary doctorates. The Hermitage Museum held an exhibition in Oct. 1995 of such magnitude that a 7 volume catalog was printed for it.
