A note about “Promotional Copy” or “White Label Copy” records – These were the first records pressed on a new plate and, because they were the first, they have the best sound quality – the master plate wasn’t yet worn by multiple pressings and so the highs are higher, the dynamics are more pronounced. “White Label” records were sent to radio stations and music reviewers, as part of the promotion of a new record release. A “White Label” or “Promotional Copy” (they’re the same thing), if it’s in EX or better condition, gives the BEST sound you can get from a vinyl record. For the joyful audio nerd in all (most?) of us: This record was “play graded” – which means it was listened to, carefully, in its entirety – so that I tell you exactly its condition as I listened to it. Listening was done on an Audio Technica AT LP240 direct drive turntable with a Shure cartridge and stylus.
