Nissan in Tennessee SIGNED Gov Lamar Alexander & John Egerton 1983 Plant Opening

Description: Please look at all FOUR photos. On October 21, 1983, the Nissan Corporation held a Dedication Service for a new manufacturing plant in Smyrna, Tennessee. Offered here are two historic items about it. The first item is a SIGNED copy of NISSAN IN TENNESSEE, a book documenting the planning, construction, and beginnings of the manufacturing of pickup trucks, their first product. The book is not just a First Edition...it is the only edition as there were no additional copies made. It is gray cloth hardcover, 10-1/4" x 12" in size, 127 pages with over 240 photos/illustrations, most of which are color photos. There are two signatures on the title page of the book. The first is by Tennessee Governor Lamar Alexander (born 1940), who was the driving force in the negotiations that brought Nissan to Smyrna. The second signature is that of John Egerton (1935-2013), who wrote all the text of the book. They did not inscribed this copy to anyone, so it will make a great gift. The book was issued with a slipcase that has an overhead photo of the very first pickup to come off the production line. The slipcase did its job of protecting the book. It is in Like New condition. The second item offered is the actual program for the 1983 Dedication. It is 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" in size, 12 pages, and is in Very Good condition with just a very tiny smudge of unknown origin on the right edge of the front cover. I acquired these items when I attended a moving sale in Murfreesboro, a city where I live that is in the same county as the Nissan plant in Smyrna. Soon after arriving I spotted these items on a table. Inquiring about it, I learned that the husband was an original hire at Nissan and had recently retired.
