Description: Nikolas Weinstein is a world famous glass artist & glass blower who, for the past 2 decades, has worked primarily on massive corporate & institutional nature-inspired glass lighting installations, usually with fluid or flowing, or organic & aquatic, designs. This glass sculpture lighting is composed of many different individual glass pieces, each hand made & formed. His current lighting installations are quite beautiful, massive and impressive. The vintage 1990's organic pod & floriform vases that I've listed for sale were created well before Weinstein got into the corporate & institutional nature-inspired sculptural glass lighting business. His work can be seen in many prestigious corporate & institutional lobbies and boardrooms, as well as affluent home owners, all over the world. This Weinstein piece is a large heavy organic pod vase OR DECORATIVE DECANTER. It fills with liquid very easily & it pours with precision. So it can be used as both an object of art for display and it can be used as a FUNCTIONAL work of art as a DECANTER OR A VASE. Made in Weinstein's art glass studio in San Francisco California in 1995, this particular shape and color was limited to NO MORE THAN 300 PIECES. Often artists don't get anywhere near their maximum intended production number. In this case, serial number "135" (of no more than 300) is engraved on the bottom along with "NIKOLAS WEINSTEIN" signature and "1995" production year. This piece looks spectacular when backlit with diffused light, which accentuates all the many deep creases, folds and bulbous protrusions at the base, reminiscent of an alien life form or tropical rain forrest pod. Backlighting also lights up the emerald green hand-formed top, which is shaped to precisely pour liquid (water, wine, etc) without spilling a drop. I have 3 colors in this shape: Emerald green, mango orange-yellow and garnet deep red. All are in new condition as they left the Weinstein Studio about 30 years ago. It is VERY difficult to find these shapes & colors in Weinstein's large & heavy organic pod forms like these. Truly a unique find for a reasonable price.
