It is marked "Canon Japan" on the bottom. The exterior of the camera is in generally very good condition. A few minor rub marks on the bottom. A small spot of tarnishing on the one black edge on the one side. The exterior would benefit from a gentle cleaning. The viewfinder window would also benefit from a cleaning. We tested the camera with a fresh battery and everything seems to work fine, though sometimes the shutter does have the squeak sound that many of these model Canons have. Not knowing the past history of this camera, but just on a visual inspection of the film compartment, it appears the original light seals may never have been replaced. The camera could probably be used just as it is for a short while, but new light seals would eventually be needed for long-term use. With some restoration, this would be a nice Canon AE-1 body.
