Description: Apparent Uncirculated Banknote 20 Rupees Reserve Bank of India Pick 82a For your World Currency Collection-PCU2155 Details Description: A nice apparent uncirculated twenty rupees banknote issued by the Reserve Bank of India. The note has the image of the Ashoka pillar to the right and is red and purple on multi-colored underprint. The back, which is in the same color as the front, shows the image of the Hindu wheel of time in the lower center. There is also small blue elephants moving towards and away from the wheel. The banknote has a watermark depicting Ashoka pillar. The note also has a solid security thread left of center. It has one signature on the front, that of S. Jagannathan the Governor of the Reserve Bank Of India. The front also displays the serial number and series in both bottom corners. This particular note has the serial number 3JA 8J4568. Date: The note has no date but was issued in the period 1970-1975 when Mr. Jagannathan served as Governor of the Reserve Bank of India. According the Banknote Book the note was introduced March 24, 1975. Printer: India Security Press. Size: The note measures ~5 3/4" by ~2 1/2". Pick Number: P82a and is listed in the Banknote Book as B263a. Condition: I would grade the note as apparent uncirculated or uncirculated with detail. The note has no folds, no creases, no tears, no splits, no graffiti, no stains, and no soiling. The reason we grade the note as uncirculated with detail or apparent uncirculated is the fact that note has several pinholes and a crevasse in the paper at the left side of the front within the white circle and near the edge. This we believe is due to the note possibly being stapled or attached to something but we further believe the note was never circulated. Other than that, the note has no roughness along the edges and retains its stiffness, crispiness, and sheen. Its corners are intact and fully squared with no rounding.
