Description: New-Old-Stock 3T Motus Quill Stem w/Gray Finish (25.8 mm / 26.0 mm clamp x 115 mm length)...Detachable Clamp Thank you for your interest in this item and please visit our store for other offerings. We have very reasonable shipping terms and combine orders to save money (for customers) on shipping costs. We also maintain customer friendly return/refund/exchange policies. Product Description: This item for sale is a new-old-stock 3T Motus quill stem in the anodized brownish gray finish. These are nice Italian made forged aluminum alloy (AL 6082) stems that were positioned among 3T's higher-end quill models...as evidenced by an excerpt from 3T's description of this stem..."it belongs to the Racing Team Service line and conceived for professional use." Now I don't know about the professional use claim, but I do believe 3T intended for these quill stems be be included (in the discussion) with their other high-end quill stems. Some of it's more prominent design features and specs include the following... Body length: 115 mm (measured from a profile view of the stem body as a straight line that extends from the center of the quill to the center of the bar clamp) Body angle: 72 degrees (or said another way...a negative 18 degree rise) Quill length: 75 mm (the distance between the limit line and the top of the quill...inclusive of the dust cover, if applicable) Clamp: 25.8 to 26.0 mm (fairly common sizing for many vintage drop handlebars) Quill diameter: 22.2 mm (common size compatible with most 1" threaded forks) Weight: 275 grams (per our digital postal scale and inclusive of all mounting hardware) Probably the most notable feature of this particular model is the two-bolt detachable stem clamp, which is an extremely nice (and convenient) feature, as the detachable clamp allows for a set of bars to mount with levers, bar tape, etc. Although, with this convenience, comes a word of caution (according to some colleagues). More specifically, the two-bolt detachable clamp is generally not considered as strong as a traditional one-piece clamp design. To this end, we have received some feedback concerning stem clamp failure as a result of stress cracks at the detachable clamp bolt-holes. I say this not to dissuade folks from purchasing one of these stems, but more as a courtesy to make sure factory torque specs are strictly adhered to when installing handlebars (as these specs are printed on the inside of the retail packaging and should help mitigate clamp failure problems). We are spending a little more time inspecting each of these retail boxed stems, as we near the end of our stocks. Honestly, we may be splitting hairs with some of these inspections, as none of them are cosmetically perfect upon close scrutiny. Although, any cosmetic issues are usually fairly minor and may consist of, among other things, small blemishes in the form of forging/finishing imperfections coming out of the factory. In other words, we sometimes observe small/shallow dimples, pin-sized holes, thin lines, etc. in the stem body that appear to be the result of an imperfect forging process. We believe this to be something that occurred at the factory, because the anodized finish does not appear to be disturbed in these areas...meaning the finishing/anodizing process was completed after the forging imperfections were created. We also see some instances where the stem may not have been properly cleaned prior to the anodized finishing work. More specifically, there may be some other small cosmetic irregularities on the stem body (i.e., there may be some small/residual metal pieces, etc. that should have been cleaned/removed from the stem body, but were instead covered by the anodized finish). Lastly, we will sometimes identify some shopwear (i.e., light scuffs/scratches) in the anodized finish that is likely the result of several years of storage time. Listing Update...We have begun updating the pictures to reflect the next stem that will sell/ship. Although, please keep in mind the blemishes and shopwear do not always show up as well in the pictures as I would like...and just want to be honest with folks on this point. To this end, I do see some shopwear-type marks (scuffs and scratches) on the top of the stem body (near the bar clamp area) and then another visible scratch/scuff on the underside of the stem body. I've attempted to take close-up pictures of these blemishes and you can make-out these scuffs/scratches in the close-up pictures. Please also note that while we may have multiple quantities listed for sale, we will repeatedly update the pictures to reflect the next offering that will sell/ship. Listing Update (To International Customers)... This is not so much an update as it is a response to international customers requesting a less expensive shipping option for one of these stems. As we state in our Terms and Conditions, we cannot ship more expensive parts (including one of these stems) with a shipping service that does not include tracking and insurance, because we cannot afford to indemnify an international customer for a lost or damaged package out of our own pocket. So this generally requires that we ship one of these stems with US Postal Priority Mail International Shipping Service. Although, we understand this service has become quite expensive to most international destinations. With this in mind, there may be one other trackable and insurable shipping service that is less expensive (the US Postal Priority Mail International Padded Mailer). Now this is not an ideal option, because the triangular-shaped 3T stem boxes will just barely fit in one of these mailers (so the boxes will probably show-up in fairly rough shape to most international destinations). Although, we pack each of these stems quite well in additional bubble wrap, before shipping in it's original retail (triangular-shaped) box. So between this added layer of bubble wrap, the retail box and the aforementioned padded mailer (not to mention the insurance to cover any damage to the stem while en route), there should be little risk of damage (to the stem) or loss to a customer. As alluded to above, the retail box is probably a different story, but if you don't mind a heavily shopworn box upon receipt, then there is probably an opportunity to receive one of these stems for a slightly reduced Priority Mail International shipping rate. Lastly, please note the US Postal Priority Mail International Padded Mailer option will be the second option you will see upon checkout, so you will have to select this shipping option to receive the lower Priority Mail International shipping rate. I hope my notes are helpful concerning international shipping, but if you have any questions, please let me know. We have also moved our "Terms and Conditions" to a separate page within our Ebay store. Note to international customers regarding shipping... We apologize to those that feel some of our international shipping charges are too high. We only charge actual shipping rates, but once an order exceeds a certain amount, we hesitate to use the least expensive US Postal Services First Class International service. We feel this way, because this service is not trackable or insurable...so more risk of loss. We prefer the US Postal Services Priority Mail International service for more expensive orders, because this service is trackable at USPS.com and insurable...so less risk of loss. Unfortunately, this service is more expensive, especially for smaller/lighter packages, relative to the First Class International service. We are sorry about these higher shipping costs, but hopefully our notes help to explain why this is the case. Note to international customers regarding customs... We also apologize to those that feel their country import taxes, duties and brokerage fees are excessive. As a small US business, we are required by customs' laws to declare each order as a retail sale. Additionally, the declared order value must be equal to total store purchases and/or winning auction bids (less any shipping costs, as these are not considered in the declared value). As a result, each customer will be responsible for paying his/her own country taxes, duties and brokerage fees, which will be collected upon delivery. Again, we apologize for these additional costs, but we cannot afford the penalties and fines that come with breaking customs' laws...so we have to strictly abide by them.
