Description: *NEW* ARNEX VINTAGE SWISS 17J HUNTING CASE POCKET WATCH Antiqued White Here is a never worn, never sold, Arnex hunting case pocket watch. It measures about 2 inches across and about 3 inches high if you include the crown and bow.The cover design features the hunting goddess Diana (Roman) or Artemis (Greek) out on the hunt. The importer (name on the dial) is Arnex, a quality brand. The movement is a Swiss made Unitas 6498, which is a classic 17 jewel full size 17 ligne (like about an American 10 size) pocket watch movement. The escapement incorporates Incabloc anti-shock protection. You will note the "lyre" shaped spring around the balance jewel (see photo) that protects the balance staff's pivots and absorbs most shocks. The watch is in excellent running condition, wound and tested over three days. It kept accurate time over the three day test period. This fine watch was left over from a wholesaler's stock and recently rediscovered. Here is an important tip for anyone using a pocket watch with a spring cover. DO NOT snap the cover closed. Just close the cover the same way you opened it. Press and hold in the crown, close the cover, and then release the crown. That way there is no wear on the case that someday may no longer stay closed.
