(1) NEW 1964+ AUSTIN HEALEY SPRITE REAR TUBE SHOCK CONVERSION KIT, WITH HARDWARE AND MONROE SENSA-TRAC SHOCKS.This is a rear tube shock conversion kit for the 1964+ Austin Healey Sprites and the 1964+ MG Midget MKII with rear 1/2 elliptic (normal) leaf springs. This kit replaces the original lever shocks with (2) modified Monroe Sensa-Trac shocks. All required hardware to install is included. I have used/sold these shocks on Austin Healey Sprites and MG Midgets without any problems over the past few years. Using tube shocks greatly increases the ride quality over the lever shocks. I HAVE SOLD 100+ SETS OF THESE FOR THE 1958-63 MIDGETS AND SPRITES WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. A similar kit from Moss Motors sells for much more. These might work on the 1979-80 Midgets and Sprites if they do not have the tube shock conversion from the factory (I am not 100% sure). This auction includes quantity 2 NEW MONROE SENSA-TRAC tube shocks that have been modified to work on this application. It also includes Grade 5 hardware with locking nuts. The modified Monroe shocks have had the upper metal shock boot (dust cover) removed and the upper and lower bushings modified. They also include instructions and have a steel conversion sleeve installed. The Monroe® Sensa-Trac® passenger car shock absorber with PSD (position sensitive damping) and the Safe Tech™ system combines our exclusive precision tapered grooves in the pressure tube with application engineered valving and Fluon banded piston to improve the ride, handling, and safety characteristics of the vehicle. These features allow the Monroe Sensa-Trac passenger car shock absorber to adjust more rapidly to changing road and weight conditions than any other available shock absorber. The result: enhanced control with uncompromised ride comfort. All Weather Fluid: Contains special modifiers to reduce friction and ensure smooth rod reaction. This shock was designed to be used with a dust cover so keep in mind that by removing it, there is a slight possibility of shortened life since the shaft will be exposed to the elements now. This is for a front tube shock conversion for the 1958-1978 Austin Healey Sprites & MG Midgets. Using these brackets, hardware and shocks you can replace the dampening of the lever shocks with new style tube shocks. This is a replica of the Wheelwright kit available many years ago and leaves the stock lever shocks in place (dampening is disabled). It only requires drilling one hole on each of the inner fenders. All brackets are CNC plasma cut from 3/16” steel. The upper brackets are powdercoated and the lower stud brackets are painted with Hammerite. You will see that there is not another kit on the market like this today. It is a very simple design and easy to install. The other kit on the market today is several times more expensive than this one. PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU BUY THIS KIT YOU WILL NEED TO OPEN AND EXTEND THE SHOCKS AFTER ARRIVAL.
