US route 91 is the Las Vegas highway, that has historically connected LA to Vegas, and then headed to points beyond, like Salt Lake City and all the way up through Montana to the Canada border. Nowadays, 91 has been mostly replaced by Interstate 15, except in the Los Angeles area when it is the 10 and the newly minted state route 91 that ferry the hopeful to the gambling fields to the northeast. An original of these, complete with the black logo of the Nevada department of highways, would cost many thousands of dollars if it ever came to the market. I'd love to share a photo of an original porcelain US-91 sign, but ... it does not appear to exist! So this is the closest you will get. This sign style was the among first ever US route markers ever posted in Nevada, as the highway department alternated between the porcelain and the embossed styles up to about 1939 or so. Only the porcelain signs got the distinct state-outline logo, and I've only seen five surviving signs of this style: a 40, two 50s, and two 95s. No 91s are known to exist. This is a high quality, heavy steel sign. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection.
