Description: Sold as is Serious buyers with basic understandings only please for sale fine Choji Hamon Wakizashi with emgraved Habaki, with NBTHk Hozon certificate, signed as: 左近 Sakon 行宗作 Yukimune Saku attributed: 土佐 Tosa (the country of Tosa) 嘉永頃 Kaei-koro (around 1848~1855) this particular smith, 左近行宗 Sakon Yukimune, is avery rarely seen smith with very limited surviving works found on the market. As attributed by the NBTHk Hozon paper, he mainly actived in the country of 土佐Tosa (土佐国, Southern 四国Shikoku island), during around 嘉永Kaei period (1848~1855). the country 土佐Tosa was the homeland of one of the largest conservative political force, 土佐勤王党 Tosa Kinnou-to, the firmest believers of 尊王攘夷Sonnou Joi (Revere the Emperor, expel the barbarians), which is also the name origin of the type of oversized Katana called 鄞王刀Kinno-to. There's recors showing he was a student of the famous Shinshinto period Tosa smith & Nihonto scholar 南海太郎朝尊Nankai Taro Tomotaka, and his Mei is quite similar to the other famous Tosa master smith 左行秀 Sa Yukihide, but unsure if they had some sort of connection or not —— very few information found about him. As shown in the photos, this particular blade is overall a very visually attractive blade: it has gorgeous 丁子Choji style Hamon well executed on the entire blade, with a large & healthy 火焔帽子Kaen Boshi "firy style" Boshi Hamon on the Kissaki. Solid condition with good polish, excellent piece of art work to enjoy in hand. The Habaki is not only a double layer 二重ハバキNiju-Habaki, but also has decent 竹Take bamboo motif engraving works with hollow design outer layer.
