Description: This is a series of first day covers (FDCs) celebrating America's original space pioneers, the "Mercury 7" astronauts, and featuring the iconic "Project Mercury" 4-cent stamp (Scott #1193) issued without advanced notice by the U.S. Post Office, and canceled at Cape Canaveral on February 20, 1962, the day of John Glenn's historic three-orbit flight. These are original 1962 covers, with contemporary cachets added. I've prepared a whole series, including one for each of the seven astronauts or flights, some group shots, the launches of Alan Shepard's "Freedom 7" Redstone rocket and Glenn's "Friendship 7" Atlas, and more (let me know if there's something else you'd like to see!) The covers are unaddressed, and in excellent condition, although some slight toning may be present (how good will you look when you're 61?) Needless to say, your cover will not have my "p3.orion" watermark. Individually, the covers cost $6.99 each. Buy one or buy them all, but the more you purchase, the more the price drops. LET ME KNOW WHICH COVER YOU WANT (or if there's something else you'd like to see.) You can add a note to your payment, or send me a message through Ebay. Free U.S. shipping.
