It keeps watch over the town from its place on the slopes of Hamamachi hill. Built back in the early 1600s by a travelling monk, the temple is unique in that it makes use of architectural features more common to its founder's native China.· Oranda Manzai - a dance that was created in 1933. It tells the story of Dutchmen coming to Nagasaki. It features a duo of dancers dressed as a Dutchman and a Pierrot, or clown. While it doesn't happen every year, this dance is unique to the Nagasaki Kunchi Festival. · The Nyokodo - built by Dr. Takashi Nagai, a victim of the atomic bombing who died in 1951 due to leukemia. · Minami Yamate These cards have both Japanese and English captions.
