Description: Here's an empty box that can be used with your Altec/Peerless 4722 transformers for moving coil phono step up. As you can see, this has switches so you can use either of the 4722's possible ratios. Low gain will be 1:18 ratio with about 150 ohms loading the cartridge, high gain is 1:36 and 37.5 ohms. This box also has a ground switch to select how the case is earthed. "L" attaches the case to the left audio shield, "L+R" attaches it to both the left and right shields (so they're also connected together). If you prefer to leave the L, R and chassis grounds separated as they come out of your turntable, you can put the switch in the center position and the case will be not be attached to either audio channel ground. In the center position the case still needs to be earthed, so this requires running a separate wire from the SUT to the preamp ground post. In general you don't need to worry too much about what the ground switch is doing, just hook the SUT up however you like, and put the switch on whichever position gives the least hum. This is the same box that I've also labelled for 4665 transformers in the past, and it will still work with those transformers as well. I've added a newer box specifically for the 4665, and that's the one I'd recommend if you know you'll use 4665, or if you might use both.
