Description: The bank depicted by this souvenir building coin bank operated from 1997-2007. The bank was acquired by Midwest National bank in October of 2007. Today, the building is occupied by Huntington Bank. A small number of these souvenir building coin banks were commissioned and manufactured in 2007 to commemorate the bank’s 10th anniversary. Only a few were made for shareholders and employees. A few remaining banks were sold at a Still Bank Collectors convention in 2009. The coin banks were manufactured at the Planter Victory factory, a company on Chicago’s west side. Lois Mihok, a former Banthrico employee, developed the hydrocut plaster model and Joseph Grier, a pattern maker, continued the process by fabricating the raw casting and trap. Grier’s company operated inside the Planter Victory factory as A1 Quality Patterns and Molds. Grier had sold one of his earlier businesses to A.C. Rehberger. Through the years he worked for several successor companies of Banthrico. The souvenir building coin bank comes with its original box, set of keys, and certificate of authenticity. The package will be insured for the full sale price. This comes from a smoke-free home.
