Mora and Cie Copper Windsor 16cm-6.25 inch diameter with Stainless Steel Lining

Description: A French copper Windsor, also known as a 'Splayed Saucepan' or 'Sauteuse Evasee' in French, with a sturdy cast iron handle, a tight fitting lid, and a clean stainless steel lining on the interior of the pan. A Windsor type saucepan has sloped sides that results in the top being wider than the base and is ideal for making sauces or reducing liquids down. This copper saucepan has two stamps to the left of the handle: A "Made in France" stamp and a stamp that reads "Mora and Cie 13 rue Montmarte." The 'Made in France' stamp is a requirement of French cookware made after 1957 and the 'Mora and Cie' stamp indicates the store that sold the item. Mora and Cie eventually became part of Matfer and I've included links below that further address the history of both stamps, but the Mora and Cie/Matfer stamp indicates the item is of excellent quality. The lid has a stainless steel lining and no markings or stamps on it and while it is not a Matfer lid, it is the correct size for the pan.
