Monumental Archimede Seguso 17.5 Inch Blown Glass Murano Antelope Gazelle Signed

Description: CONDITION IS EXCELLENT WITH NO CHIPS OR IMPACT MARKS. FINISH IS BRIGHT AND REFLECTIVE. - THERE IS A LONG SCRATCH AND SCUFFS ON THE BOTTOM OF THE BASE. (PHOTO 21) - THE BASE HAS THE ETCHED "ARCHIMEDE SEGUSO MURANO" (PHOTO 3 & 21) SIGNATURE BUT REALLY THAT FACE IS A GIVEAWAY. THERE WAS ALSO A PERIOD WHEN SEGUSO WAS USING ONLY THE BLACK AND RED IN HIS WORK. - OTHER THAN THE BASE BOTTOM, I FOUND A SINGLE 1/4" VERY LIGHT SCRATCH UNDER THE RIGHT EYE (PHOTO 22- LAST PHOTO). THERE ARE SEVERAL PHOTOS THAT SHOW THE RIGHT EYE, BUT ONLY (PHOTO 22) SHOWS THE SCRATCH. THIS IS BECAUSE IT IS VERY LIGHT AND ALSO DOES NOT SHOW UP EXCEPT AT THE RIGHT ANGLE UNDER THE RIGHT LIGHT. - THERE ARE A SMALL NUMBER OF NEEDLE POINT DOTS IN THE GLASS. IF IT WERE NOT AN OPAQUE BLACK I NEVER WOULD HAVE SEEN THEM. I LITERALLY MEAN THE POINT OF A NEEDLE OR PIN (THE TINY SHARP BIT). IF YOU SEE A WHITE DUST SPECK IN A PHOTO, IT MAY BE ONE OF THEM (but that is only because it was reflected in the flash) -OTHER THAN THE SCRATCHES ON THE BOTTOM SURFACE THIS IS AS CLOSE TO PERFECT AS YOU COULD LIKELY HOPE FOR GIVEN THAT IT IS LIKELY THIRTY YEARS OLD. - THE HEAD AND SHOULDERS OF THE ANTELOPE/GAZELLE IS APPROXIMATELY 7.5 INCHES TALL. FRONT TO BACK OF THE BASE IS FIVE INCHES. THE HORNS ARE ABOUT ELEVEN INCHES TALL. -IT'S FUNNY. UNTIL TODAY, I NEVER NOTICED THE DETAIL HE PUT INTO THE LIPS AND NOSTRILS. This was likely created near the end of the live of Archimede Seguso. IN 1996, THE TEATRO LA FENICE OPERA HOUSE IN VENICE BURNED DOWN. Apparently, Seguso lived within view of this and it impacted him tremendously. For the rest of his life, much of his work was done in charcoal grey and black glass to represent the smoke of the fire. Whether that applies here, I can't be certain THE WEIGHT IS SEVEN POUNDS, FIFTEEN OUNCES. BOX AND PACKAGING WILL EXCEED A POUND AND SHIPPING WILL BE OVER 9 POUNDS. SHIPPING FEES CHANGE DRASTICALLY OVER 22 INCHES, BUT I THINK WE CAN KEEP IT UNDER THAT. This will require a large box and packing materials I don't yet own so expect that it will take the three day shipping time for me to get it out the door. I will only do Priority Mail on this unless you want to pick it up. I will pay for insurance.
