They can be used to secure the child to high chairs, grocery carts or other seats. The harness is fully supported by the child's torso not the sensitive lower stomach area. It is adjustable to fit chest size 18 - 22" although you might feel it is more secure at about 21" (because more of the hook and loop closure would be connected). The adjustable shoulder straps lengthen to about 19" from the top of the torso strap. The shoulder and wrist straps are advertised as padded, but it is minimal, basically just an added layer of soft thick fabric (see photos #9 and #10). Machine washable. Good condition.
