Description: Model 1912 Dismounted 1911 USMC Pistol Holster for Colt 1911 or 1911A1 RARE This is a very rare US Marine Corps 1912 pattern holster. Designed for mounted use, the 1912 patter holsters for the 1911 Colt .45 automatic had a long suspension and a swivel to keep the holster vertical even when wearer was on horseback. This model is the "long drop" version intended for dismounted use that omits the swivel but retains the long strap holding the belt hook. Very nice overall condition with a dark brown finish to the leather that shows just a bit of wrinkling from flexing and minor rub wear. Retains the original belt hook and brass pins for closing and attaching. The inside of the holster shows just a small wad of very old newspaper stuffed into the bottom as to keep the shape of the bottom of the holster. Could be removed if you choose, I left in to keep the shape. There are stitches near the flap securing brass rivet that looks like the original owner may have done a bit of modifying as they are very old and have been there for a long time. Outstanding item that is a perfect example of this very rare piece that was used from 1912 through the end of WWI. Please look at the pictures well to see the exact condition for yourself.Any questions please feel free to message me, I will do my best to answer. I make no money off shipping charges!
