Those, certainly, who from Vilarrasa forward have hada respect for the documents, personal and administrative, per-taining to the birth and continuing life of the Western Domini-can Province and have seen to it that they be carefully pre-served. Those also who periodically would bring order into thearchives by filing and cataloging and by supplementing prov-ince documents with copies of other primary materials gleanedfrom libraries and archives near and far. Then, too, there havebeen those who have studied some of the documentation andwritten monographs on one or other of our founders or parishesor other ministries, and which have been gratefully and shame-lessly employed in the shaping of the present text. There arealso those whose memories I have tapped in order to discovernew things about the old or resolve some matters not quite clearin the archival documentation. Finally, those who searched li-braries for secondary materials, did typing and indices, read myoriginal manuscript in whole or in part, and corrected inaccura-cies in history, grammar, and style, and made suggestions thathave in other ways improved the narrative - these also are re-sponsible for what follows, though this amateur historian alonemust take the blame for what failures persist in spite of others'efforts.My sincerest thanks especially to Fr.
