JAPAN meets NIAGARA FALLSThis 1930s era Niagara Falls souvenir, from a long-ago trip, was made in Japan of luster ware type porcelain with a DRAGON in raised moriage type decoration. 6" tall with glass globe shade. The lamp is mostly a violet purple with irridescence with a HANDPAINTED SCENE OF NIAGARA FALLS PROSPECT POINT on it showing the waterfall, Gold painted handles and gold painted three tripod feetThe little painting is beautiful and carefully done with detailsRemnants of old adhesive sticker label on reverse (not the painting side). Wick is still in and little handle still works fine raising and lowering the wick.Miniature FAIRY OIL LAMP with wick still in the burner, which can still be lowered up and down with the round metal dial which has an unusual emblem on itComes with the original glass globe which is frosted on top to about halfway down, and then clearSized 6" tall with globe inserted and 4" wide handle to handle. The glass globe is about 3" tall by itself.These lamps were like the nightlights of yesteryear, meant to be used on a bedside table or hall table for low lightThe lamp itself is in nice condition with no chips, cracks or breaks- just some adhesive on base from a long ago labelThe oil burner inset can not be removed. The base of it is RUSTED and can't be turned(but did NOT stain the porcelain lamp), but can possibly be cleaned up with steel wool. I left that to you if you desire, because as it is it gives a rustic look.but the top part is still in fairly good condition. HAS ORIGINAL GLASS LAMP SHADE which is intact and in nice conditionHas some light marks and rubs here and there typical to age of piece, but nothing major and still looks amazingly fresh for its years, which attests to the quality of the porcelain workB-GRY-X
