Description: This is a hard cover book that was issued in 1981 and covered the history of the Minneapolis Fire Department from 1879, when it went to a full time paid department, to 1979, the first 100 years. The author of the book is Richard Heath and was published by The Extra Alarm Association of the Twin Cities. The book is titled "MILL CITY FIREFIGHTERS, THE FIRST HUNDRED YEARS 1879 - 1979" and not only covers the first hundred years as a paid department, but it all so covers the early years with the MFD volunteers. The book is in excellent condition. 240 pages. The book has many pages of photo's of early stations and rigs. The appendix has a list of steamers, hose wagons, chemical rigs and their assignments. T are 8 color pages. This is the first history book of the MFD published since 1900 and goes into detail of the departments history. This is a very hard to come by book. FREE SHIPPING.
