Description: Thrifting find. Midcentury ceramic statuettes of Balinese man and woman dancers, glazed in a creamy ivory color with gold spatter. Hands and faces are cold painted. Bottom impressed marks are unreadable, but I'm pretty sure they were made by Gilner Pottery, a ceramics company in California that was in operation from the 1930s through 1950s. These figures are pretty large - each stands about 14" tall. There is allover crazing in the glaze, and there are bits of missing paint on the figures' faces and fingertips. A couple of pinhead-size areas appear to have been touched up - one on the woman's forehead and one on her fingertip. You can see these areas on the photos. Otherwise, I could find no other issues. These eye-catching figures might be striking statement pieces for your retro or midcentury decor, or a sweet addition to your vintage California pottery collection. Please see pictures for details and condition, and let me know if you have any questions. Shipping, unfortunately, will be pricey due to the packed weight and size, so please keep postage costs in mind when placing your bid. I pack with care and lots of bubble wrap. Thanks for your interest.
