Description: The hand painted plates were made at Arte Artigianato Orobico di Luciano Rumi, the Milan ceramic studio founded in 1946 by Luciano Rumi. ArtRumi was well known for their abstract, modernistic style and has been exhibited in museums and art shows in Italy and abroad. The permanent collection of the Brooklyn Museum contains a complete ArtRumi dinner service of forty pieces that was presented to the museum by the Italian government. These plates are fine examples of Italian Mid-Century Modern ceramic art, they each measure 9 1/2 inches in diameter. One is a pure biomorphic abstract, the other a figurative abstract of a female figure. Aside from two small slightly abraded spots on the rim of the yellow dish (probably from a plate hanger), they are in excellent condition with no cracks or chips. Marked as shown on the reverses.
