Truly one of the legendary singing actors of the 20th Century, Bohnen excelled in a variety of roles, from Mephistopheles to Jonny in “Jonny Spielt Auf. Sung at the Metropolitan Opera from 1923 to 1932, however his home was primarily the Berlin Hofoper/Staatsoper and the Deutsch Oper Berlin, later the Städitsche Oper; where he was also the General Manager. Bohnen’s talent also took him to the legitimate stage and Töne films. Fabulous records!
